Marriott Kansas City reports unprecedented growth in F&B revenue courtesy of IRIS mobile dining solution

The popular Kansas City hotel has enhanced operational efficiency and profits following partnership with leading hospitality mobile dining platform IRIS

Kansas City Marriott Downtown (part of Aimbridge Hospitality) and IRIS are delighted to announce uplifts of over 94% in F&B revenue and time-savings of 30 minutes per delivery following deployment of IRIS’ mobile dining solution.

In direct response to the growing guest demand for digital ordering, Kansas City Marriott Downtown, a two-tower, 970-room award-winning hotel, earlier this year partnered with the leading hospitality mobile ordering provider, IRIS.

With the IRIS mobile dining solution for in-room dining, the hotel has since reduced customer wait times and reported substantial year-on-year increases of 87% and 94% in both order volumes and F&B revenue respectively. These achievements are a direct result of both the seamless nature of digital ordering and its enthusiastic adoption by the hotel’s guests and staff.

Located in the heart of the city, Kansas City Marriott Downtown (part of Aimbridge Hospitality) combines newly restored historic elegance with modern luxury. Attached to the KC Convention Centre by an enclosed walkway, it also features two restaurants, a bar, a lounge bar and a coffee shop, a business centre, as well as an indoor pool and a gym. The 95,000 square feet of flexible meeting space is also available for business or social events.

We’re delighted with the efficiency of IRIS’ mobile dining app and how seamlessly it enables us to manage and process a large volume of room service and corporate orders.

The prevalence of digital ordering among guests, coupled with their familiarity and ease of using the app, has contributed significantly to the year-on-year increase in order volumes and average guest spend.

The user-friendly app is constantly being updated and modernised to cater for traveller’s needs – I’m always finding new features when I log into the backend, all of which heightens guest satisfaction and frees up our staff’s time.
— Jami L. Meier, Director of Outlets

Prior to partnering with IRIS the hotel team had a number of operational objectives it wanted to meet. Specifically, these included a more efficient, streamlined approach to managing room service orders across its two towers, maximising F&B revenue and guest spend, and a more effective way to distribute menus to guests to promote the F&B offer throughout the hotel.

Alongside the significant increase in F&B revenues and guest orders, the hotel has also reported a number of additional results. These include higher guest spending online compared to guest spend on orders taken over the phone, greater accuracy and less waste as guests order directly with details of their order, reduction in delivery times of 30 minutes and seamless online payments.

This is in addition to increased capabilities for hosting larger corporate or sports team group bookings as well as managing promotions and special offers more efficiently, thereby alleviating staff challenges to operate more sustainably and with greater flexibility.

Guest demand for mobile ordering has unquestionably been one of the defining trends for hospitality operations in recent years. As it looks set to continue to increase in the future, hotel operators are taking important steps to ensure they have the right solutions in place to be mobile ready.

Digital ordering has the agility and scope to deliver significant returns on its investment as demonstrated by the results delivered for the Kansas City Marriott.

It is a hotel of considerable scale and we look forward to continuing to work with the team to increase their F&B order volumes and revenues further in the future.
— Graham Rushin, VP Sales and Marketing at IRIS
