Get to know Robin as he shares insights into his background, his life at IRIS and what he enjoys getting up to in his spare time…
What do you do, and how long have you worked at IRIS?
“I head up the support service team, making sure we keep our client’s platforms running smoothly, and ensure their requests are answered as quickly as possible.’’
What’s your background?
‘‘I started out in Civil engineering, designing roads, bridges and buildings, and then moved into IT, providing outsourced support services to small and medium businesses.’’
What is one of the most interesting tasks/projects you’ve worked on at IRIS?
‘‘It has to be when we first developed our Mobile Dining app, being involved from the initial design stages and Proof of Concepts to seeing it in so many hotels now!’’
What sets IRIS apart from other companies?
‘‘It is truly collaborative, where everyone has a voice and is encouraged to provide input into what we are doing.’’
What is your most significant achievement to date – personal or professional?
‘‘Founding and running an IT support services company for over 10 years.’’
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
“My children! I wish I was still asleep when the alarm went off”
What did you want to do when you were growing up?
‘‘International hockey player’’
What is your favourite hobby?
‘‘Hockey”
What is your guilty pleasure?
‘‘Nice bottle of red wine.’’
What puts a smile on your face/makes you happy?
“Solving a problem, knowing that I have been able to help someone out. It becomes addictive!’’
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
“When I last saw my Dad, but I can’t repeat what he said!”
What do you love about working at IRIS?
‘‘I enjoy the challenge that the industry provides and the constant innovation of new features that we regularly develop and roll out to our clients.’’
What advice would you give anyone looking to join IRIS?
“You will need to be a self-starter, the role will be what you make of it.”
