v5.30

Version 5.30 comes with a great new feature to allow guests to book reservations in both Order and Service Outlets, plus more ordering related enhancements. We’re super excited to see what you do with these new features!

Release date: 25th November 2021

Book a reservation

As the hospitality world continues to become more and more digital we want to make it even easier for you to handle all kinds of guest requests, including booking all types of reservations.

Our first step into this feature is to allowing you to activate reservations any outlet, which will then show a new button front and center in your outlet page. The text on the button will adapt depending on the type of your outlet, and once activated you can provide a URL for the table booking page, spa reservation page, or any other reservation system from a third party provider.

When a guest selects this button we will open up your page in a new tab and they can quickly and easily book a table or other reservation, all without breaking any ordering they are already doing!

Also, if you have multiple outlets then we’ll show the booking button underneath your outlet on the outlet list page too - this way your guests will never miss a chance to book.

If you want any help getting this set up for your property, we’d be happy to support you.

Out of stock messaging

We know that sometimes the orders just keep coming and it’s hard to keep track of your menus, so in this release we have added an enhancement to let guests know when an item is out of stock if they try to order it. Depending on your exact property setup and integrations, this will work differently - but don’t worry we have handled all cases!

The first scenario is when a guest gets to the cart and a known item is out of stock. In this case we will inform the guest that one of their items is out of stock and we will automatically remove from their cart. This way there is minimum disruption and they guest can continue to order as normal.

The second scenario is when an item is out of stock but it is unknown. Unfortunately we only find this information out once we try to connect with the Point Of Sale (POS) system when placing an order, and sometimes the POS system doesn’t tell us which exact item is out of stock. In this case we still let the guest know that an item is out of stock, but we can’t remove it automatically. Instead we will show a friendly message recommending that the guest gets in touch with a member of staff.

The last scenario is when we know a particular item is out of stock and the guest hasn’t added any items to the cart yet. In this case the intelligent IRIS platform simply removes the item from the menu completely to avoid any confusion!

Guest information disclaimer

When a guest places an order you can configure the order form to contain any of our predefined fields such as the guest’s first name, last name, email or phone number. At IRIS we believe that it is important to let guests know that this information won’t be used to send any spam or any other messages other than in relation to the orders that they make.

So, we’ve added some new disclaimer text when you are collecting guest information so that this is nice and clear for everyone.

General updates

As always this release includes a number of smaller enhancements behind the scenes and general performance improvements.
