Meet Natalie
Introducing…. Natalie Moore, our Head of Finance and Operations.
Natalie takes centre stage and gives you more insight into her background, her life at IRIS and what she enjoys getting up to in her spare time (what, she doesn’t spend every waking hour bean-counting?!)
What do you do and how long have you worked at IRIS?
‘‘For three years and two months, I head up the finance, accounts, service and delivery departments oh, and payroll.’’
What’s your background?
‘‘I am a CIMA-qualified chartered accountant and have worked in several tech companies over the years, and I really enjoy the challenge and speed of an innovative, growing company.’’
What’s the best thing about working at IRIS?
‘‘The people, everyone is really friendly and always happy to help when they can. And I need help when it comes to understanding technical acronyms.’’
What sets IRIS apart from other companies?
‘‘The receptiveness to change. If a process or system isn’t working, we develop a better way of doing it. The people using the systems are the experts as to what is needed. There’s no “that’s the way it’s always been done” here.’’
What is your most significant achievement to date – personal or professional?
‘‘Personal – trekking to Everest Base Camp earlier this year. It was so hard, and I cried a lot, but a truly fantastic experience. I’m still enjoying being able to take a full breath.’’
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
‘‘My cat - she sits on my face until I get up and feed her!’’
What did you want to do when you were growing up?
‘‘I wanted to be an archaeologist and find dinosaur fossils in the desert. Yes, Jurassic Park is my favourite movie.’’
What inspires you about working in hospitality?
‘‘I enjoy seeing our solutions in situ. When I was at the Aloft Kathmandu Thamel, I got a real thrill knowing the QR codes all lead to menus hosted on our platform.’’
What is your favourite hobby?
‘‘Trying to experience as many exhibitions and shows London can offer.
Most recently, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and seeing Alanis Morissette at the O2, which was amazing - her voice is just incredible!’’
What is your guilty pleasure?
‘‘A gin and tonic in the hot tub’’
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
‘‘I was on holiday with my family. After several hours in the pub, my brother-in-law decided to climb the wall of the pub garden and promptly fell off. Luckily, he wasn’t hurt, as none of us would have been able to help from laughing so much.’’
What advice would you give anyone looking to join IRIS?
‘‘Ask questions. People are happy to answer them, which might lead to a new project, training, or system improvement.’’
